| Welcome to Bike Club!
- You
are here because the world as you know it no longer makes sense.
- You've been raised on television to believe we'll all be millionaires and
movie gods and rock stars - but we won't.
- You pray for a different life. |

"I want you to cycle as hard as
you can"
Every
weekend on the cycle paths and bike lanes by the beach, young men and women
with good white-collar jobs and absent fathers put on their cycling shoes
and helmets and ride with each other, pedal powered, just as long as they have
to. Then they go back to those jobs with tired legs and aching backs and the
sense that they can handle anything.
The Rules
- First Rule of Bike Club: You do
not talk about Bike Club
- Second Rule of Bike Club: You do not talk about Bike Club
- Third Rule of Bike Club: When someone says stop or falls off, the ride is
over
- Fourth Rule is: Only two riders in a row
- Fifth Rule: One ride at a time
- Sixth Rule: No tandems, no trikes
- Seventh Rule: Rides go on as long as they have to
- Eighth Rule: If this is your first time at Bike Cub you have to ride
The Ride
Bike Club leaves my apartment between
10:30 and 11am every Sunday (almost). If you arrive by 10:15 am you
get one of my highly praised lattes. Lunch will be at 1:00pm at a
location of my choosing (I'll decide based on numbers). We'll be done
cycling between 3 and 3:30pm - then drinks on my balcony.
"You've all got homework"
