  Here's the news from 2003:
Date (US Format :-) Description
10-28-03 Phantom of the Opera
Spur of the moment trip to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Armanson Theatre.  Lucked out with $12 public rush tickets in really good seats (actually a whole box).  Well worth seeing.
10-24-03 to 10-26-03 Weekend in Mammoth
Another visit to to Chateau Haas/Vilja in Mammoth for hiking, tennis, hot tubbing, fine wine and Elk at the Tamrack Lodge.  Happy Birthday to Lynne, I'm glad we could be there to celebrate.
10-21-03 The Graduate with Jerry Hall
Jerry is looking good for her age and you get to see quite a bit of her (especially from the third row!).  Playing at the Wilshire Theatre to not such a packed house.
10-19-03 Hike Club
Linda arranged the first Hike Club (replacing the weekly Bike Club) to leave from my apartment.  Unfortunately I had food poisoning from some lobster I had cooked the night before so I just made lattes for everyone before they took off.  They looked pretty shattered when they returned - good job Lindo!
10-11-03 The Full Monty
My first visit to the Kodak Theatre (new home of the Oscars) and the first play of their season.  Amusing to see how the film has been adapted to a US audiance.
09-25-03 Radiohead
My friends James and Phil made the trip up from San Diego to join me at the Hollywood Bowl to see this old favorite.   I gave my sister tickets as a birthday present too.  Great place to see a great band.
08-28-03 to 9-08-03 Mount Rainier
Tim flew in from England for the long drive to Seattle.  We stopped for a night in San Fran and someplace short of Portland.  We spent seven days in Glacier School and a successful summit climb of Mount Rainier (supposedly the hardest endurance climb in the lower 48!).  Tim left from Seattle but my Dad flew up to accompany me on the 1,000+ mile drive back to LA.
07-26-03 Happy Birthday to Me...
Another year older...oh, well!
07-19-03 The Blue Planet Live
A fabulous evening at the Hollywood Bowl to watch British composer George Fenton conduct the LA Philharmonic in a performance of "The Blue Planet", a film about the undersea world set to George's music.
05-15-03 to 06-11-03 Trekking in Nepal
My friend Tim and I visited Nepal and trekked to Everest Base Camp for the golden jubilee.  We spent 15 days walking and climbed to over 18,000ft.  We reached Everest Base Camp on 29 May, 50 years to the day that Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay reached the summit.
04-26-03 Status Quo Concert
A trip back to yesteryear with a Status Quo concert at the House of Blues.  The aging rockers can still get the (obviously English) crowd going - including Mr Ricky Gervais.
01-12-03 First Bike Club Ride of the Year
After a long break over the holidays we resumed the weekly bike ride (25 miles this time).  Only one casualty - a 10 year old boy - but injuries were minor and the paramedics were there really quickly!
01-01-03 Happy New Year
A Happy New Year to one and all.
